Greek born soprano / voice-over artist Vassia Zacharopoulou follows a diverse career that finds her performing at opera houses and concert halls, voicing characters in foreign language and animated films, and recording contemporary music. Βorn in Athens in 1985. Vassia  started taking piano lessons at the age of 6. In 2000 she was offered a scholarship from the National Conservatory of Athens, therefore she started studying classical singing with Anna-Maria Karkania and the renowned Greek baritone Kostas Paskalis. After graduating from the conservatory she attended masterclasses by acclaimed artists such as Marlis Petersen, Daphne Evangelatos, Dimitris Kavrakos, Aris Christofellis and Jannette Pilou. She also took private lessons with Jane Henschel in Dusseldorf, Fotini Kostopoulos and Christine Giannakopoulou in Athens. The seasons 2011-2013 she has been a member of the Greek National Opera Studio. At the age of 23 she started her opera career at the Greek National Opera, singing the role of Tsarevna Bird-Swan in the children’ s opera The Tale of Tsar Saltan by N. Rimsky-Korsakov. Since then she held the leading roles in several children’s opera productions including Humperdinck’s Hansel & Gretel (Gretel) and Barab’s Little Red Riding Hood (title role). In 2013 she performed the leading role of Princess in the newly composed children’s opera Beware! The Prince is Messy by N. Kypourgos, which was presented for the first time at the Greek National Opera. The performance turned out to be a tremendous success and was repeated the next season as well. The studio recording of the opera was released at the same time by Mikri Arktos Records. In 2014 she won the Song Prize at the 14th International Operatic Competition Marie Kraja at Tirana, Albania. Until now Vassia has performed at the Greek National Opera the roles of: Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Vespetta (Pimpinone), Clarice (L’ amante di tutte), Toula (The Murderess) and Jay (The Cunning Little Vixen).
